Dibdin was an English dramatist, actor and songwriter. His son Charles Isaac Mungo Pitt wrote plays and pantomimes and was for some time proprietor and manager of Sadler's Wells Theatre. A younger son, Thomas John Pitt, also took the name Dibdin about 1800. Thomas composed some 2,000 songs in the style of the elder Dibdin; his most successful dramatic work was the pantomime of Mother Goose. From the description of Papers, 1776-1831. (Unknown).
